Throughout February, The African American Museum of Bucks County celebrated Black History Month with virtual and in-person presentations in art galleries, corporations, schools and other nonprofit organizations.
“While the development of the museum’s new permanent home in Middletown Township is moving along, AAMBC as a mobile and virtual museum remains an important educational resource throughout Bucks County,” said Linda Salley, AAMBC president and executive director. “While work moves forward at the new building in Middletown Township, a gifted lease from the Bucks County Commissioners, we will continue our active and extremely busy role in the community.”
AAMBC held pop-up exhibits at the Bucks County Technical High School, Parx Casino, Arete Galley, Bethlehem AME Church and Stark & Stark Attorneys at Law (Underground Railroad virtual presentation). Additionally, Salley was presented with the inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Builder Award at Bucks County Community College.
AAMBC’s work continues for Women’s History Month. On March 8, it hosted a private virtual event for the League of Women Voters of Bucks County. It showed a presentation of Standing on My Sisters’ Shoulders. AAMBC continues to display its stationary exhibit From Africa to Bucks County at the Bucks County Visitor Center, 3207 Street Road in Bensalem through June.
