Enjoy walks on the trails, an egg hunt and more

Silver Lake Nature Center, 1306 Bath Road in Bristol, announced the following events for March and April:

Saturday Morning Bird Walks take place March 5, 12, 19 and 26, at 7:30 a.m. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the parking area. Free. Program leader is birder extraordinaire Douglas Filler.

Volunteer Work Day takes place Saturday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to noon. Help SLNC maintain its grounds. Be prepared to get wet and dirty. Bring a refillable water bottle. This event is rain or shine. Register online or by phone.

Earthship Tours take place Saturday, March 12, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Free. Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures. Register online or by phone.

Free Guided Walk on the SLNC Trails takes place Sundays, March 13 and/or March 27, from 2 to 3 p.m. Join certified Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Patricia Merkel for this leisurely, informative walk covering seasonal topics. Register online or by phone.

Rainbows of Healing Medicine Drum Making Workshop takes place Saturday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information and registration, visit RainbowsofHealing.com.

Day-off from School Camp Days take place Thursday, April 14 and/or Friday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Camp Days are scheduled for when most schools are off. Each day provides seasonal adventures for children ages 5-14. Staff and campers spend the day exploring the forest, swamps and marsh in all weather. Cost is $65/child per day for Friends of SLNC Members; $80/child per day for non-members. Full payment is required at time of registration. Register online.

Bird Seed Sale Pick-up (for orders placed by April 9) takes place Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bird watching is more fun when you can attract them to your own yard, so fill your feeders with one of SLNC’s special mixes. Friends of SLNC Members receive a 10 percent discount on all orders. Orders can be placed online or by phone.

Nature Egg Hunt takes place Saturday, April 16, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Many creatures lay eggs in the depths of the woods. This activity for families and individuals will challenge participants to find these “special” hidden eggs throughout the wilds of the forest. Solve the “Who Done It Mystery” of the special eggs to earn one of many prizes. Cost is $5/person for Friends of SLNC Members; $8/person for non-members. Register online or by phone.

Trails are open daily, from sunrise to sunset.

SLNC Visitors’ Center is open Tuesday-Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m.
