Dr. Melanie Gehrens, who has served as Bristol Township School District Superintendent for the past seven years, is retiring at the end of this academic year

Dr. Melanie Gehrens, who has served as Bristol Township School District Superintendent for the past seven years, announced during the school board’s Feb. 22 meeting that she’s retiring at the end of this academic year.

“Bristol Township School District is a special place with the most caring and committed people,” she said in a tearful voice. “My life’s journey in education has been wonderful. When the Bristol Township board of directors approved me as the new superintendent, I was fortunate to have a board who supported me, my vision and a collaborative effort to improve our district.”

Now, Gehrens said it’s time for her to focus on herself and her family.

“I was prepared to retire two years ago, but placed it on hold in order to help Bristol Township navigate the uncertainty of the pandemic,” she revealed.
