Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick joined four Republican colleagues in releasing a statement on their plans to introduce the Never Yielding Europe’s Territory Act.
This bill will impose sanctions on the Putin regime now for its military buildup and the hybrid attacks it has already launched against Ukraine, as well as send a deterrent signal about the additional consequences Russia would incur for a further invasion of Ukraine. The legislation also authorizes support for Ukraine and NATO allies on the eastern flank now, during and after an increasingly likely Russian escalation.
“As we have done before with other rogue powers, it is time for the United States to send a clear message: If Russia insists on threatening the sovereignty of another state and jeopardizing global security, there will be severe economic consequences and sweeping sanctions,” Fitzpatrick said. “Congress must act now to ensure that the United States continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine by providing our Ukrainian partners with the aid and resources they need to uphold their territorial integrity and sovereignty.”
