Anthony Caccavale credits his grandmother with instilling in him a passion for cooking. To this day, he regularly recreates her recipes for meatballs and tomato sauce, the staples of any Italian family.

As of Jan. 2, this “Jersey Shore guy” is lending his lifelong culinary talents, which include everything from pasta to a perfectly smoked brisket, to the Bensalem Township Country Club, 2000 Brown Ave., where he was appointed executive chef.

According to the resident of New Egypt, Caccavale craved a change in scenery after serving as the banquet chef at Spring Lake Golf Club for almost a decade.

“I always ventured over here with my wife. Sometimes we’d go to Parx Casino or just Philadelphia in general. I always liked this area,” he said of Bensalem.

A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Caccavale boasts 30 years of experience. He’s excited to bring his skills and a fresh vision to the township.

“My goal is to level everything up. Everything just needs a little more finesse, let’s say that. Maybe do a couple of wine dinners, just a little bit out of the ordinary from what other county-run country clubs would have,” he said. “Give people a taste of what it’s like to be in a private country club.”

Caccavale expects the club to be operating in full swing by the spring, when golf outings, special dinners and other events are slated to take place. While there are set banquet menus, Caccavale is happy to tailor offerings to each group’s preferences and budget.
