The Samuel Staten, Sr. Charitable Trust, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is presenting the African American Museum of Bucks County with a $10,000 donation to be used toward the development of the museum’s new permanent home in Middletown Township. The presentation is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. at the Bucks County Visitor Center, 3207 Street Road, Bensalem.
The check will be presented to Linda Salley, president and executive director of the AAMBC, by Samuel Staten, Jr., business manager LIUNA Local Union #332, secretary/treasurer of Laborers’ District Council of the Metropolitan Area of Philadelphia and Vicinity, and international vice president of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, along with the Samuel Staten, Sr. Charitable Trust’s board of trustees.
“It is so important that the treasured artifacts, educational programs and special exhibits that are currently a mobile museum have a permanent home and a wider audience,” said Staten, Jr. “The new home of the African American Museum of Bucks County will help spread the knowledge of the rich legacy of the African American experience to a much wider audience. The Samuel Staten, Sr. Charitable Trust is proud to support the AAMBC and hope to continue our support in the future.”
“We are grateful to the Samuel Staten, Sr. Charitable Trust for their support,” said Salley. “After the generously gifted lease from the Bucks County Commissioners of the Boone Farm, we will need to make the newly renovated building into a museum. These funds will help us do just that.”
The AAMBC honors the legacy of the African American experience, inspiring pride in heritage, educating the public about the diverse and difficult journey of African Americans, and sharing stories that depict our shared ancestry, thus enriching the lives of Bucks County families.
