Robbery at Street Road Wells Fargo Bank

Keenan Coats demanded $10,000 and threatened the Bensalem branch with a bomb

On Saturday, Feb. 5, at 9:15 a.m., Bensalem Police responded to the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 2349 Street Road, for the report of a hold up alarm.

Upon arrival, employees stated that a black male wearing a black hat, black jacket, black overalls and dreadlocks had just handed the teller a demand note asking for $10,000 in 100 dollar bills and that he had a bomb in his jacket. The teller gave him an undetermined amount of small bills and then he fled the scene.

Utilizing surveillance cameras, Bensalem Police were able to determine that the suspect fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Impala and that the owner of the vehicle was Keenan Coats. Bensalem detectives were able to obtain a warrant to seize the vehicle involved in the bank robbery. Bensalem Police and officers from the BucksMont Safe Streets Task Force found the vehicle parked on the 1500 block of N. Broad Street in Philadelphia. The owner of the vehicle, Coats, was observed walking to his vehicle and was detained with the assistance of Philadelphia Police.

Coats was transported to the Bensalem Township Police Department, where he confessed to robbing the Wells Fargo Bank in Bensalem on Saturday. Coats was charged with Robbery and related offenses, arraigned by District Justice Gallagher and sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $300,000 bail. No further information is being released at this time.
