Family Service annual appeal goes virtual

In just over two weeks, the agency raised a record $104,049

Family Service Association of Bucks County’s first-ever virtual annual appeal, “Creating a Brighter Tomorrow,” ran from Dec. 16-31 and raised $104,049 in over two weeks, which is more than $4,000 beyond the initial $100,000 goal and an agency record. This money will ensure that clients will see many brighter tomorrows in 2022.

“We know our donors have a history of coming through for those in need whenever we ask, but considering this was the first time we were doing an annual appeal entirely online, and factoring in the window for donations was somewhat narrow, we were really hoping for the best,” said chief executive officer Julie Dees. “However, as soon as we saw the attendance numbers at our Zoom launch, our expectations grew. We are grateful for all of our supporters, from donors to our board, staff, partners and friends for coming through in such a big way.”

“I am thrilled with the successes of our annual appeal,” said Deborah Van Aken, president of the board of directors. “Doing it virtually allowed us to ‘enter’ into homes throughout the community and share the story of our programs. The large response we received is indicative of the amazing giving spirit of this community, the shared concern for those in need and the humbling trust that this community has in our agency’s vision of a community where anyone can achieve their full potential.”

Following the Zoom launch and follow-up, which utilized social media and email rather than standard mail, participants had the opportunity to pledge individual support, or reach out to others in their network to join the cause. Donations are already supporting the vital health and human/social service program offerings that Family Service provides for its neighbors in need throughout Bucks County.
