Bensalem school board member Michelle Benitez recognized

The board member of two years was elected to serve on the Bensalem Township Council

During the Bensalem school board’s meeting on Jan. 26, the group unanimously appointed Michael Stewart to fill the remainder of Michelle Benitez’s term, which runs through the first Monday in December 2023. Stewart is a graduate of Bensalem High School’s class of 1986 and a member of the Bensalem Athletics Hall of Fame for wrestling.

Benitez was on the board for two years and announced her resignation after winning the election in November to serve on the Bensalem Township Council. Superintendent Dr. Sam Lee presented her with an award for her service.

“The past two years have been incredibly challenging for any school board director. You have attended to them with a commitment, a talent, a grace and poise that will serve you well in your new community service capacity as a member of the Bensalem Township Council,” said Lee.

Benitez wished Stewart “all the luck in the world” and praised the board for its dedication to serving the community.
