Participants get to enjoy a special night on the SLNC Trails after dark, followed by a campfire and marshmallows. Cost is $12 per person; $10 per person for Friends of SLNC Members. Registration is in advance only. Payment is due at time of registration. Prices are the same for all ages. No refunds/exchanges unless the event is cancelled by SLNC. Register online or by phone.

122nd Annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count takes place Saturday, Dec. 18, from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Join birder/naturalist Robert Mercer and a team of birders for this free event. All levels of experience, including no experience, are welcome to participate in this important citizen science national bird census. Come out for the whole day or part(s) of the day. Meet at Neshaminy State Park or SLNC. Times/meeting locations will be confirmed upon registration. Bring your binoculars. Register online or by phone.

Bird Seed Sale Pickup (for orders placed by Dec 11) takes place Saturday, Dec. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bird watching is more fun when you can attract them to your own yard, so fill your feeders with one of SLNC’s special mixes. Friends of SLNC Members receive a 10 percent discount on all bird seed orders. Orders can be placed online or by phone.

Free Guided Walk on the SLNC Trails takes place Sunday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 3 p.m. Join certified Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Patricia Merkel for this leisurely, informative walk covering seasonal topics. Register online or by phone.

Day Off From School Camps take place Dec. 28 and/or Dec. 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Why only have camp in the summer when you can do it in all seasons? These days are scheduled for when most schools are off. Each camp day provides seasonal adventures for children ages 5-14. Staff and campers spend the days exploring the forest, swamps and marsh in all weather. Cost is $65 per child per day for Friends of SLNC Members; $80 per child per day for non-members. Full payment is required at time of registration. Contact camp director Cameron Calista at 267-880-5024 or [email protected] with any questions. Register online.

Trails are open daily, from sunrise to sunset. SLNC Visitors’ Center is open Tuesday-Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m.
