In an effort to assist small businesses in the Greater Philadelphia region that have been significantly impacted economically as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, PECO created the Small Business Gas Grant Program, which went into effect on Dec. 1.

It’s slated to aid 900 local companies as they continue to attempt to recover from the impacts of the ongoing health crisis. The program will award $450,000 as grants for small business customers in need, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Qualifying small business customers enduring financial hardship can now apply to receive a one-time grant of $500 to be used toward their existing PECO natural gas account. The grant will be applied directly to the customer’s bill and will lower current outstanding balances or provide a credit for future charges.

“At PECO, we’re committed to supporting our customers through the COVID-19 pandemic and the Small Business Gas Grant Program is one of the many ways we’re achieving that goal,” said Mike Innocenzo, PECO president and CEO. “With this new program, we will continue to support local businesses on their road to recovery, while delivering safe and reliable service and helping customers save energy and money.”

Eligible applicants for the Small Business Gas Grant Program can apply at peco.com/gasgrant. Businesses must be an existing PECO natural gas customer prior to March 31, 2020 with an account in the name of the business, be on PECO’s GC (Gas Commercial Service) rate, have less than 25 total employees, and are required to attest to having experienced a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
