On Tuesday, Nov. 30, Bensalem Police responded to the ShopRite store on Bristol Road for the report of an attempted purse snatch. The victim stated that she had her purse in her cart and turned away for a brief moment, when a male grabbed her purse and started walking away. The victim was able to take a hold of her purse and pull it from his grasp.
The male exited the store and drove away in a white Subaru Forester with front end damage and a missing hubcap. Bensalem Police conducted a search of the surrounding area and received information about a possible suspect vehicle parked in front of a residence off of Gibson Road.
Officers made contact with James Meehan at that residence, who admitted to the attempted purse theft earlier in the day. He was also questioned and admitted to being involved in a purse theft at the same store the day before and one on Nov. 20 at the Bristol Road Acme.
Meehan was charged with three counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking and three counts of Receiving Stolen Property and will proceed by summons.
