New Hope Celebrates hosts 2nd annual ‘I Gave A Buck’ challenge

Funds raised on #GivingTuesday will benefit the annual Pride Parade, High Heel Drag Race and more

New Hope Celebrates is kicking off the second year of its “I Gave A Buck” challenge for #GivingTuesday, occurring on Nov. 30. #GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been driven by individuals, charities, businesses and communities across the U.S. and countries around the world. Just as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season. #GivingTuesday is an opportunity for people around the world to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and support their communities.

“This year, we finally had the opportunity to celebrate coming out of our ‘pandemic cocoons’ and see each other at events in 2021,” said NHC present Matthew Hanson. “We are excited for a big year of events in 2022 and your support on #GivingTuesday will help to fund those activities.”

NHC is a nonprofit organization with an all-volunteer board. It depends on the generosity of partners and donations from the community to be able to bring social, educational and historic events throughout the year, including the annual Pride Parade and Festival each May and annual High Heel Drag Race, part of OUT in October.

Through #GivingTuesday and the “I Gave A Buck” challenge, this year NHC has a fundraising goal of $3,500. All funds raised will support NHC and NHC History efforts in 2022. In addition to funds raised during the event, this year NHC has received a pledge from one of its new board members, John Bell, to match the first $1,000 in donations.

“#GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year,” said Asha Curran, #GivingTuesday’s CEO and cofounder. “Generosity gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act on.”
