Two Bensalem High School students – Cadet James Radyn and Cadet Thomas Nicholas – attended a Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program, provided by Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, from Nov. 4-7.
The four-day residential Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program allows high school students to interact with experts on citizenship, democracy, the judiciary, the political process and the free enterprise system. The program includes thought-provoking lectures, historic tours and experiential workshops, all designed to develop leadership skills and deepen an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of engaged citizenship.
“I believe that the Freedoms Foundation Youth Leadership conference is very worthwhile to send cadets to in the future, and I would recommend it for anyone seeking a leadership role in the JROTC unit or wider community, future career in politics, business or activism,” said Radyn and Nicholas. “The program gives a very good foundation on leadership skills, understanding other individuals’ perspective, the U.S. legislative process, and the pros/cons of capitalism, as well as how to use them in the terms of American capitalism to become successful. The food there was also very good and plentiful, so you can take as much as needed. The counselors, advisors and speakers were also very helpful, well informed, inclusive and caring of the program, as well as the students.”
