YMCA of Bucks County announced the recipient of the 2021 Lois Burpee Service Award.

In a ceremony held at Five Ponds Golf Club on Oct. 22, Leo Quinn was honored for his service to the Warminster community, most especially the integral role played in the opening of the YMCA’s Warminster branch.

The award was introduced by Zane Moore, president/CEO of YMCA of Bucks County and presented, as is tradition, by the most recent honoree, Jack McCaughan. Quinn served on the YMCA of Bucks County’s board of directors from 2017-2019 and on the YMCA’s Warminster Steering Committee during that time. He is a retired Warminster Township supervisor. During his tenure from 2004-2014, he served as treasurer.

“The importance of service was ingrained in me by my parents,” said Quinn during the ceremony. “I dedicate this to them.”

Established in memory of longtime YMCA volunteer Lois Burpee, the award has been presented annually since 1985 in tribute to her memory and active service to the YMCA as a volunteer and benefactor. Lois and David Burpee also donated the land where the Doylestown branch currently stands. On an annual basis, YMCA trustees present the award in recognition of outstanding volunteer efforts to the YMCA by an individual, company or organization.
