Silver Lake Nature Center, 1306 Bath Road in Bristol, announced the following events for the month of November:

Saturday Morning Bird Walks take place Nov. 6, 13, 20 and 27, at 7:30 a.m. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the parking area. Free. Program leader is birder extraordinaire Douglas Filler.

Heritage Conservancy-Sponsored Waterway Cleanup takes place Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon. Help SLNC maintain its watershed and wetlands (lakes, ponds, streams, marshes, trails). Be prepared to get wet and dirty. Participants will be working both on the trails and in the waterways (with kayaks). Bring a refillable water bottle. Rain or shine. Pre-registration required online or by contacting SLNC volunteer coordinator Arden Williams at 215-785-1177.

Free Guided Walk on the SLNC Trails takes place Sundays, Nov. 7 and 21, from 2 to 3 p.m. Join certified Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Patricia Merkel for this leisurely, informative walk covering seasonal topics. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the parking area.

Earthship Tours take place Saturday, Nov. 13, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Free. Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures. Register online or by phone.

After School Nature Classes take place Tuesdays, through Nov. 16, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Looking for a way to keep your children (5-14 years old) active and entertained after their in-person or virtual school day? These classes aim to allow kids to socialize in a safe way while exploring the outdoors (and using that pent up energy that’s been building up all day). The program is drop-off only, and is run by SLNC Environmental Educators. Parents are not required to stay on site, but are welcome to hike the trails on their own during that time. Cost for Friends of SLNC is $20 per class; non-members is $25 per class. Contact camp director Cameron Calista at 267-880-5024 or [email protected] with questions. Register online.

Home School Enrichment Series takes place Wednesdays, through Nov. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to noon or 1:30 to 3 p.m. This is an option for families who take a different approach to educating their children. This program provides an opportunity for children (5-14 years old) to get hands-on experience within the STEM disciplines without formal constraints. Each lesson is developed with the PA Standard Aligned System in mind and ensures that children will excel in all settings. Cost for Friends of SLNC Members is $20 per class; non-members is $25 per class. Contact camp director Cameron Calista at 267-880-5024 or [email protected] with questions. Register online.

Day-off from School Camp takes place Thursday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day provides seasonal adventures for children (5-14 years old). Staff and campers spend the day exploring the forest, swamps and marsh in all weather. Cost for Friends of SLNC Members is $65 per child; non-members is $80 per child. Full payment is required at time of registration. Contact camp director Cameron Calista at 267-880-5024 or [email protected] with any questions. Register online.

Charlie Zahm & Tad Marks Concert – A Tribute to John Denver & the Great Outdoors takes place Saturday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. Returning for another concert is Charlie Zahm on vocals and guitar, and Tad Marks on fiddle. Admission is $15 per person. Purchase tickets online or by phone. Tickets are available in advance only. Concert is scheduled to take place inside the SLNC Visitors’ Center. Prices are the same for all ages. No refunds/exchanges unless the event is canceled by SLNC.

Trails are open daily, from sunrise to sunset. The SLNC Visitors’ Center is open Tuesday-Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, from noon to 5 p.m.
