Middletown Township is offering three levels of dog training lessons at The Barn. Instructor is Dottie Peruzzi (Sit Happens Dog Training), who has attained 21 American Kennel Club obedience titles. Each session consists of six classes. Bring lots of soft treats and a collar and leash (no extendable leashes). All dogs need to have age appropriate shots. There is a max of six students per class. Cost is $210; or $252 for non-residents.

Puppy & Beginner provides basic obedience training for puppies and dogs of all ages. Use positive motivation to learn sit, down, come, stay, leave-it and walk nicely on a leash. Play games like “Puppy in the Middle,” “Pass the Puppy” and a Doggy Obstacle Course to achieve obedience goals. Work on manners like jumping up, biting, housebreaking, chewing, etc.

Monday Session 1 is Oct. 18-Nov. 22; Monday Session 2 is Dec. 6-Jan. 10. Time 1 is 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.; Time 2 is 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday Session is Dec. 8-Jan. 12, from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.

Advanced Training provides advanced level obedience training for puppies and dogs that have already had training and want to refine and add to those skills. Dogs will learn sit, down, stay, come from a distance and with distractions, stand, backup, walk in heel position, etc. Learn how to get your dog to focus on you so that they respond better to your commands. Learn tricks such as take a bow, wave hello, pick up your toys, etc.

There are sessions on Wednesdays, Oct. 20-Nov. 24, from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. or 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.; and Wednesdays, Dec. 8-Jan. 12, from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.
