New Hope Celebrates announces events

Enjoy a film screening and ‘Rocky Horror Show’ experience this month

New Hope Celebrates recently announced a series of “Out in New Hope” events.

On Sunday, Oct. 17, New Hope Celebrates History will premiere the bio-documentary Ahead of the Curve at the Logan Inn’s screening room. This will be the first film for the newly-renovated Logan Inn, complete with plush theater seating and a concession stand.

Ahead of the Curve chronicles the life of Franco Stevens, founder of Curve, the most successful lesbian magazine ever published in the 1990s. The film follows Stevens on her journey through times of joy and strength in overcoming a disabling injury. Ahead of the Curve looks at queer women working in the community from the 1990s to the present, and Stevens’ ever-present commitment to them in this inspiring film of courage.

The film will be shown at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Logan Inn, 10 W. Ferry St. in New Hope. Both showings have limited seating. Tickets are $15 each and are available at newhopecelebrates.com.

On Thursday, Oct. 28, Rocky Horror Show fans will be delighted by The Rocky Horror Skivvies Show at the Bucks County Playhouse, 70 S. Main St. The Skivvies – Lauren Molina and Nick Cearley, with special guest Nick Adams – will perform iconic songs from The Rocky Horror Show in their own mash-up eclectic style straight from their newly-released album.

The Skivvies are award-winning singer-actors from New York City. They have delighted audiences at 54 Below, 42 West, Highline Ballroom and Joe’s Pub in NYC.

Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character. Tickets include a complimentary cocktail and light hors d’oeuvres at The Deck, with the pre-show beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and are available at newhopecelebrates.com
