See what’s happening in Bristol this month

Silver Lake Nature Center, 1306 Bath Road in Bristol, announced the following events for the month of October:

Saturday Morning Bird Walks take place Oct. 16, 23 and 30, at 7:30 a.m. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the parking area. Free. Program leader is birder extraordinaire Douglas Filler.

Free Guided Walk on the SLNC Trails takes place Sunday, Oct. 17, from 2 to 3 p.m. Join certified Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Patricia Merkel for this leisurely, informative walk covering seasonal topics. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the parking area.

Earthship Tours takes place Saturday, Oct. 16, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Free. Stop by to learn about these interesting, sustainable structures. Register online or by phone.

After School Nature Classes take place Tuesdays through Nov. 16 (no session Nov. 2), from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Looking for a way to keep your children ages 5-14 active and entertained after their in-person or virtual school day? These classes allow kids to socialize in a safe way while exploring the outdoors. Drop-off only. Run by SLNC environmental educators. Parents are not required to stay on site, but are welcome to hike the Trails on their own during this time. Cost is $20/class for Friends of SLNC Members; $25/class for non-members. Home School Enrichment Series takes place Wednesdays through Nov. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to noon or 1:30 to 3 p.m. This is an option for families who take a different approach to educating their children. This program provides an opportunity for children ages 5-14 to get hands-on experience within the STEM disciplines without formal constraints. Each lesson is developed with the PA Standard Aligned System in mind and ensures that children will excel in all settings. Cost is $20/class for Friends of SLNC Members; $25/class for non-members. Charlie Zahm & Tad Marks Concert – A Tribute to John Denver & the Great Outdoors takes place Saturday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. Returning for another concert is Charlie Zahm on vocals and guitar and Tad Marks on fiddle. Admission is $15/person. Purchase tickets online or by phone. Tickets are only available in advance. Concert is set to take place inside the SLNC Visitors’ Center. Prices are the same for all ages. No refunds/exchanges unless the event is canceled by SLNC.

Trails at SLNC are open daily, from sunrise to sunset. It’s free to come out and explore the Trails on your own.

SLNC Visitors’ Center is open Tuesdays-Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays, from noon to 5 p.m.
