HealthLink partners with local organizations to bring magic of the Tooth Fairy to kids in need

Care packages that teach about oral health are being provided to children at A Woman’s Place and Tabor Children’s Services

HealthLink Dental Clinic in Southampton has partnered with A Woman’s Place and Tabor Children’s Services to provide care packages from the Tooth Fairy to the children that each organization serves. These packages, which include a personalized letter and signed photo from the Tooth Fairy, a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, a few small trinkets and oral health activity sheets, teach children about good oral health habits while bringing them a little magic and fun when they have lost a tooth or need a gentle reminder to brush and floss.

“While HealthLink does not provide dental services to children, oral health education to all members of our community is a very important part of our mission,” said executive director Raquel Braemer. “We know that individuals who develop good oral health habits during their childhood are much more likely to continue those habits into adulthood, which can help to prevent many serious dental issues. HealthLink is thrilled to partner with local organizations to help build these good oral health habits and spread a little fairy dust and joy to children in our community.”

HealthLink’s Tooth Fairy care packages are part of a larger community and family-based education program that the organization launched in February called Project Tooth Fairy. The program offers fun ways to engage families and children in learning the importance of good oral health, such as virtual storytimes with the Tooth Fairy, and the opportunity to purchase Tooth Fairy Fan Club packs for children who recently lost a tooth, had a good visit at the dentist, are nervous about an upcoming visit at the dentist, or just need a gentle reminder to brush and floss.

All Tooth Fairy care packages provided to children in need through partnerships with local organizations are provided free of charge thanks to the generosity of individuals who have made donations to Project Tooth Fairy.

“Tabor Children’s Services is proud to be a partner with HealthLink,” said Monique Gaillard, Tabor’s director of public relations and development. “Access to competent care should not be determined by your socio-economic status. This partnership provides Tabor families access to family-centered oral health education and creates awareness around an organization that provides culturally competent, cost-effective quality dental care.”

HealthLink Dental Clinic is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located at 1775 Street Road that provides free dental services to low-income, working adults and military veterans living in Bucks and Montgomery counties and community and family-based oral health education to the entire community.
