SCORE Bucks County is offering three free webinars in October to keep the local business community informed.

The first, “Buying Merchandise and How to Make a Profit for Your Business,” is set for Oct. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Led by SCORE Bucks County certified mentor Carl Rubin, this webinar focuses on teaching small business owners how to be profitable by knowing how and what to buy and how to sell it.

Rubin, whose vast retail and management background spans 40 years, will discuss: how to choose from whom to buy; key items and their relationship to profitability; and markdowns as a useful tool.

On Oct. 12, SCORE Bucks County certified mentor Don Goeltz will offer the popular “Getting Started in Digital Marketing” webinar, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Goeltz, an associate professor at Holy Family University teaching strategic management, marketing, entrepreneurship and international business courses, will provide an overview of digital marketing. Attendees will learn how to prioritize the next steps in a digital marketing plan.

Goeltz will highlight: the relationship of digital marketing to traditional marketing; the importance of a business website for traffic and conversion; the use of search, email and social media to develop website traffic; and the different types of conversion.

On Oct. 26, SCORE Bucks County certified mentor John Sheehan presents “How to Prepare a Proper Business Plan,” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The former president and CEO of Princeton, New Jersey-based National Computer Analysts, Sheehan will share the importance of mapping out the future of a business via a plan that is periodically updated. He will guide attendees through the steps necessary to develop a well-thought-out plan which incorporates a general description of the business, its products or services, a marketing plan detailing who the businesses’ customers will be, and a financial plan outlining at least a 12-month cash flow projection.

Sheehan will also discuss: business goal setting; identifying a target market and potential customers; analyzing start-up costs, ongoing cash requirements and available funding; setting prices for products or services based on your costs, market conditions and competitor pricing; and knowing the competition, their marketing strategies, pricing and how your business will be different.
