Former Pennsylvania Gov. Mark Schweiker, of Levittown, released the following statement on the recent news that the trial of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is finally set to resume:
“After two long decades, America’s 9/11 families will finally see terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a courtroom. It’s taken entirely too long to see justice for their loved ones, those brave fellow Americans who were lost on that fateful day. That day has finally come. Mohammed and his co-conspirators will finally face American justice.
“God bless our 9/11 families, who still live with such a painful sense of loss each and every day. I hope they know it is their loved ones – and not terrorists – who will long be remembered when justice has finally been served.”
The 44th governor of Pennsylvania, Schweiker is the only person to assume the office of governor as a result of the 9/11 attacks. He is executive-in-residence of Rider University’s department of political science homeland security program.
