17th annual High Heel Drag Race coming to New Hope

This long standing tradition is set for Oct. 24 on W. Mechanic Street

New Hope Celebrates is hosting its 17th annual High Heel Drag Race on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. on W. Mechanic Street in New Hope. A long standing tradition and highlight of the fall season in New Hope, this year’s theme is “Hallow Queens & Glamour Ghouls.”

Hosted by New Hope’s own Miss Pumpkin, race participants are dressed in costumes and wear 3” or taller high heels. Runners carry a pumpkin up the hill on W. Mechanic Street, decorate the pumpkin and race back down the hill. This is an all-inclusive event, representing New Hope’s diversity and acceptance of all.

“We were not able to hold this event in 2020, so we’re excited to see our community come together in a safe manner to celebrate all the ghouls, goblins and ghosts of New Hope,” said Matt Hanson, president of NHC. “It’s going to be a fun afternoon of heels and costumes.”

There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee required in advance and limited to the first 15 people. All participants should arrive at 2:30 p.m. to check in. All proceeds go to New Hope Celebrates. This event will be held rain or shine.
