The public is invited to a free International Overdose Awareness Day Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 29, from 2 to 8 p.m., at the Southern Bucks Recovery Community Center, located at 1286 Veteran Highway in Bristol.
On hand at the event will be the Bucks County Commissioners, who at their recent meeting, presented a proclamation to Diane Rosati, executive director of the Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission, which provides year-round information on drug prevention, treatment and recovery options.
The commission, along with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and multiple police departments across the county, has helped prevent over 1,520 overdoses, collected 162,640 pounds of unwanted/outdated medication and regularly offered free Narcan training sessions and supplies of the lifesaving nasal spray.
