United Way, Penn Community Bank launch Disaster Relief Fund

The fund will help locals affected by the recent severe flooding and tornadoes

United Way of Bucks County, in partnership with Penn Community Bank, announced the creation of a coordinated Disaster Relief Fund to help those affected by the recent severe flooding and tornadoes in Bucks County.

Starting with $25,000 donations from both United Way and Penn Community Bank and $10,000 from Dow, the fund will assist low-income homeowners impacted by the storms who are unable to secure aid from other sources. The nonprofit will coordinate with the County of Bucks and other nonprofit partners to ensure that funds are used efficiently.

“Our community has been hit hard by devastating storms recently. Many people are displaced and many will need help resolving their housing issues,” said Marissa Christie, president & CEO of United Way of Bucks County. “We want these people to know that we’re here for them. The Disaster Relief Fund will help fill in the gaps for these impacted residents who have no other options.”

“As a community-first organization, we’re committed to serving our region – including those most in need,” said Jeane M. Vidoni, Penn Community Bank president and CEO. “Penn Community Bank is proud to once again partner with United Way of Bucks County and pledge our support to the Disaster Relief Fund.”

The nonprofit is currently seeking corporate partners to contribute to the Disaster Relief Fund’s recovery efforts.

United Way of Bucks County’s HELP Center is also serving as a resource for weather-impacted residents. People in need can shop for cleaning supplies, nonperishable food, clothing, towels and other essential goods, all free of charge.
