LaVonda Daniels has been appointed as the new principal at Davis Elementary School, 475 Maple Ave., Southampton. Daniels emerged as the ideal next educational leader for the school through a rigorous, multiple-round interview process that included parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and a school board director as panelists.
Prior to joining the Centennial School District, Daniels served in the Abington School District. Beginning in 2006 as a teacher at Highland Elementary School, she fostered student success in the classroom, teaching grades two through six. Additionally, she started the Highland Elementary Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Day of Service. For nearly a decade, donations collected and packaged from this day of service assisted children and families through partnerships with local organizations.
In 2017, Daniels was promoted to the position of elementary curriculum specialist at Overlook Elementary School. In 2019, she was promoted to assistant principal at both Abington Junior and Senior high schools.
Daniels earned her bachelor of arts from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She obtained her masters degree in education from Temple University and a second masters degree in reading (with distinction) from Cabrini College, along with her reading specialist K-12 certification. Daniels also completed a third masters degree from Gwynedd Mercy University in educational administration, along with her principal’s K-12 certification. As a lifelong learner, she is currently pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership at Gwynedd Mercy University.
Daniels enjoys spending time with her family and traveling, especially when visiting Louisville, Kentucky, where she was born and raised. She and her husband have twin sons, Justin and Jordan.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the district as the principal of Davis Elementary School and look forward to working with the students, staff and community beginning Aug. 2, 2021,” said Daniels.
