Monarch movie screening virtual event

The Bucks County Audubon Society is hosted a virtual screening of ‘Beauty on the Wing: Life Story of the Monarch Butterfly’ on July 31

Celebrate amazing pollinators by joining Bucks County Audubon Society for a screening of a monarch-themed movie for Butterfly Month. The virtual showing of the award-winning documentary Beauty on the Wing: Life Story of the Monarch Butterfly is set for July 31, at 4 p.m.

Kim Smith, the documentary’s filmmaker, will join first for an introduction and then at the end, will host a Q&A session. The 56-minute documentary film takes place along the shores of Cape Ann and in the heart of Mexico’s forested volcanic mountains.

Every stage of the butterfly’s life cycle is experienced in vibrant close-up, from egg to caterpillar to adult, and set to the background of sea and forest, sun and wind. It’s a film for all ages, created for all to gain a deeper understanding of the symbiotic relationship between habitats, wildflowers and pollinators. Filmed in Gloucester, Massachusetts and the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserves at Estado de México and Michoacán, the film illuminates how two regions, separated by 3,000 miles, are ecologically interconnected.
