Bristol Township School District welcomes new elementary curriculum supervisor

Amy Coleman’s appointment is effective July 1

Bristol Township School District announced the appointment of Amy Coleman as elementary curriculum supervisor. The former elementary curriculum supervisor Karen Snedecker retired at the end of April after many years with the district. The board of directors appointed Coleman at the April 19 meeting with a start date of July 1.

Prior to her new role, Coleman was the director of curriculum and special programs at the Union City Area School District since 2019. She was an assistant principal in Erie’s Public Schools for four and a half years, and in 2017, was recognized as the PA National Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year. Coleman was also a teacher for 14 years in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Coleman is excited to move from Erie to join the Bristol Township School District community and get to know the area.

“I am looking forward to working with all of the administrators, teachers, students and families to make a positive impact on student learning,” said Coleman. “I look forward to working with the community to make sure learning is fun and engaging so that all students are achieving their potential.”

One of her goals for the 2021-22 school year is to learn about the district more and understand what has been done in the past to make more informed decisions regarding curriculum and programs for the future.

“We will be working on aligning curriculum K-12 and that is exciting to me. It will make programming more cohesive and really provide a blueprint for teaching and learning,” said Coleman. “I also value input from others and look forward to collaborating with all of the stakeholders in my new position.”

Coleman is a lifelong learner and enjoys staying abreast of current educational topics.

She completed System Design Benchmarking and the PA Inspired Leadership Program at the National Institute of School Leadership. At Gannon University, Coleman earned her supervisor of curriculum and instruction certification and principal certification K-12. She also completed her masters and bachelors degrees at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

“Amy brings a new perspective to the district and I look forward to collaborating with her on the administrative team,” said Superintendent Melanie Gehrens, Ed.D. “Welcome to BTSD Amy.”
