KleinLife receives $6,600 grant to support Home Delivered Meals Program

The funds came from the 2020-21 Subaru Share the Love event

Kleinlife, located at 10100 Jamison Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, received a grant of over $6,630 as part of the 2020-21 Subaru Share the Love event as a member of Meals on Wheels America.

Meals on Wheels America is one of four national Share the Love partners supported by the campaign. Subaru of America donates $250 to Meals on Wheels America for every new Subaru purchased or leased from November through Jan. 4.

“We were very excited to be included in this program for the eighth straight year,” said KleinLife president and CEO Andre Krug. “Meals on Wheels America has always been a great support for our Home Delivered Meals Program and, because of the additional help provided by Subaru of America, we have been able to continue our efforts to prepare, package and deliver 70,000 nutritious meals annually to seniors in Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery counties who cannot shop or cook for themselves.”

According to Erica Kelly, chief membership and advocacy officer for Meals on Wheels America, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania earned a total of $96,248.29 through this year’s event, with 18 participating members, including KleinLife, qualifying to receive funds.

Many seniors struggle to stay healthy and independent. One in four seniors lives alone in isolation, and one in seven might not know from where or when their next meal is coming from.

“This is simply unacceptable and why KleinLife continues to provide nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks to area seniors,” said Krug. “This vital support helps keep them in their homes where they want and are happy to be.”

“Meals on Wheels America is proud to partner with Subaru of America for the 13th consecutive year to enable more seniors to live with independence and dignity,” said Ellie Hollander, president and CEO of Meals on Wheels America. “Since 2008, the Subaru Share the Love event has helped deliver more than 2.3 million meals and friendly visits to vulnerable seniors nationwide. We are enormously grateful to Subaru and its retailers for their long-standing commitment to Meals on Wheels and the millions of seniors who depend on it for nourishment and companionship.”

Over the past decade, Subaru of America and its participating retailers have donated $176 million to charity partners.

“This year’s Share the Love event brought that total to more than $200 million, proving there is no limit to the love we can all share,’ said Hollander.
