Broadway, television and recording artist Melissa Errico will perform two shows of “Ladies of the Playhouse” at the Bucks County Playhouse, 70 S. Main Street in New Hope, as part of the recently announced Broadway Spotlight Concert Series. Performances will be held Thursday, June 3, at 7:30 p.m., and Friday, June 4, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40. Visit BucksCountyPlayhouse.org or call 215-862-2121 for more information.
“Ladies of the Playhouse” is a concert devoted to the musical highway that once raced from Bucks County to Broadway and back again. In her “talking cabaret” style, Errico will celebrate all the great Broadway writers who made their second (or sometimes first) homes in the area, singing songs from her own Broadway career associated especially with Oscar Hammerstein, Moss Hart and S.J. Perelman. There will be songs from Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, Perelman’s One Touch of Venus and Hart’s My Fair Lady, with a special extension into the mentor/protégé relation of Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim, who wrote his first show as a teenager in Bucks County.
This concert series was curated by Jim Caruso for the Playhouse.
Rigorous safety protocols are in place to protect those working backstage and front-of-house, including virus testing, mask requirements for all those inside the Playhouse, frequent cleaning, Merv 15-rated HVAC filters and restricted access backstage.
