Levittown student’s cyber education allowed him to pursue karate

Hunter Rodriguez will graduate in the top 10 percent of the Reach Cyber Charter School class of 2021

Levittown resident Hunter Rodriguez has been attending Reach Cyber Charter School, a unique, tuition-free, online public charter school for K-12 students across Pennsylvania, for the past five years. He turned to the flexibility of cyber education to allow him to simultaneously pursue his passion of karate.

Thanks to a flexible and personalized education, Rodriguez was able to thrive in his sport and in his classes. He began karate at the age of 4, and has been competing at high levels since he was 12. His skills earned him a spot on the USA Jr. National Karate Team, which allowed him to travel the world, all while staying on top of his education at Reach Cyber.

During the pandemic, he continued to compete virtually, completing more than 30 tournaments in 2020, adding quite a few more gold medals to his collection. Academically, he took advantage of Reach Cyber’s accelerated pacing option, which allowed him to continue his coursework throughout the summer and graduate a year ahead of schedule. He is also ranked in the top 10 percent of his graduating class.

Now a soon-to-be graduate of Reach Cyber, Rodriguez is prepared to continue his education at Bucks County Community College to pursue a degree in computer science. He is excited to receive his high school diploma at Reach Cyber’s upcoming virtual commencement ceremony on June 9.
