St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne is hosting a free webinar on Thursday, June 3, from 5 to 5:45 p.m., to educate the community on how to maintain proper breast health. This is especially important for those who may have put off their annual screenings in the last year out of fear of COVID-19.
Approximately 1-in-8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in their lifetime, with men estimated to account for about 2,650 new cases this year alone, according to the American Cancer Society. There are some factors that cannot be controlled, like age and family history, that can impact changes of developing breast cancer. However, regular screenings, such as mammograms, can detect cancer early when it’s most treatable, improving odds of survival and helping avoid more extensive treatments. It is best to consult with a medical professional to build an individual care plan, complete with screenings and treatment options if needed.
The webinar will be led by St. Mary Complete Breast Care board-certified breast surgeon Russell Reisner, MD. Reisner will review a variety of topics, such as mammograms and other screenings, treatment options for breast cancer, and safety measures in place at St. Mary Medical Center to keep patients safe during the pandemic. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The webinar is free of charge, but registration is required. To register, visit trinityhealthma.org/breast-webinar. Upon registration, an event link will be emailed to you.
