The Market Choice Act seeks to implement a fee on carbon emissions, which would help fund infrastructure advancement

U.S. Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick and Salud Carbajal re-introduced the Market Choice Act, legislation that seeks to implement a fee on carbon emissions, which would help fund infrastructure advancement and development while combating climate change by eliminating the gas tax.

In a recent survey published by the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and the George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication, 66 percent of registered voters said that developing sources of clean energy should be a high or very high priority, and 53 percent said that climate change should be a high or very high priority for the president and Congress.

“We are at a crossroads with regard to infrastructure and climate change,” Fitzpatrick said. “This Congress has the unique opportunity to come together to forge bipartisan consensus on both of these critical issues. Legislative action taken — or not taken — by this Congress on these issues will be felt for generations.”
