Santarsiero wants fracking ban in Delaware River Basin

Bucks and Montgomery counties are joining the senator in his effort to preserve the authority of the Delaware River Basin Commission to ban fracking in the basin

State Sen. Steve Santarsiero (D-10th dist.) announced that Bucks and Montgomery counties have joined him in an effort to preserve the authority of the Delaware River Basin Commission to ban fracking in the Delaware River Basin.

“The Delaware River Basin is home to 5 million Pennsylvanians who are guaranteed the right to clean, safe drinking water through the Environmental Rights Amendment to the state Constitution,” Santarsiero said. “Today, I am pleased to share that Bucks and Montgomery counties have joined the effort, started by my Democratic colleagues and me, to protect that right, and ensure that the Delaware River Basin Commission can continue to act within its authority to keep our waters safe from fracking.”

Among those backing Santarsiero’s position are Bucks County Commissioners Diane Marseglia and Bob Harvie.
