Bucks Recorder of Deeds seeks second 4-year term

Bucks County Recorder of Deeds Robin Robinson will be seeking a second four-year term.

Robinson pointed to first-term initiatives such as the Historic Deed Book Restoration Project, modernizing the office, staying under budget and fighting fraud and scams in Bucks County. She started the Adopt-a-Book Program, which allows business leaders and community members to make donations in support of the preservation project. In all, 341 out of the 700 books have been preserved thus far.

To prevent deed scammers, Robinson has placed watermarks on all copies of deeds made outside of the office. In addition, she initiated and helped to build the Bucks County Fraud Alert system that alerts property owners when a property has been recorded at the county under their name.

Through the COVID-19 pandemic, Robinson made sure the office remained operating by getting laptops for her department. To keep title searchers and realtors working during the pandemic, Robinson opened public records back to 1684 and swore in notaries in parking lots when the administration building was closed.

If elected to a second term, Robinson plans to continue to modernize the office, make online documents clearer and easier for the public to read, and finish the deed book restoration project.

Prior to taking office, Robinson worked in the commissioners’ office for 10 years.

The Republican candidate is Dan McPhillips, of Warminster, an inheritance tax agent in the Bucks County of Register of Wills Office. He recently finished seven years of service as a Warminster Township supervisor.
