Sunshine Foundation celebrates selection as an ACME Give Back Where It Counts Reusable Bag Program beneficiary

The foundation will receive a $1 donation every time the $3 reusable bag is purchased at the ACME on E. Street Road

Sunshine Foundation has been selected as a beneficiary of the ACME Give Back Where It Counts Reusable Bag Program for the month of March. The program, which launched in August 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.

Sunshine Foundation was selected as the March beneficiary of the program by store leadership at the ACME located at 105 E. Street Road, Feasterville-Trevose. Sunshine Foundation will receive a $1 donation every time the $3 reusable Give Back Where It Counts Bag is purchased at this location during March, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

“We are thrilled to be chosen as the beneficiary for March,” said Rich Mergo, director of development for the Sunshine Foundation. “We truly appreciate the continued support from ACME and the local community to help us continue to make dreams come true for seriously ill children.”

Proceeds from ACME will help answer the dream of 11-year-old Aaron, who is always giggling and even asks for a hug as a way of saying, “Hello!” Aaron has 11 different diagnoses, yet remains very happy and affectionate through doctors’ appointments, injections and medications. Being non-verbal with epilepsy and an immune system deficiency, Aaron’s dream is to have a sensory room at home where his therapists can provide his 30-hour a week therapy at home. This dream will benefit him by providing indoor exercise with access to occupational therapy equipment and giving him the lights and sounds for sensory output. A quiet corner will give him a place to relax after an epilepsy episode with soothing music.

Sunshine Foundation is the original wish-granting organization in the United States, founded in Philadelphia. It answers dreams to children with life-long chronic conditions such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, severe low-functioning autism, Down syndrome, hydrocephalus, severe epilepsy, Sickle Cell Disease, blindness, deafness and many others. Sunshine Foundation has answered the dreams of more than 41,000 children since 1976.
