U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-1st dist.) introduced a congressional reform package.
Included in the package are term limits; a constitutional amendment to prevent members from getting paid if they don’t pass a budget on time; a balanced budget amendment; an end to congressional pensions; gives redistricting power to independent commissions; open primaries for independents; a deadline of election day to receive completed mail-in ballots; a requirement that the signatures on mail-in ballots match; and voter ID.
“This reform package is not political and should not be controversial. Every legislator in America at the federal, state and local level should be on record as to whether they support these reforms,” Fitzpatrick said. “If not, they should be asked to explain why.”
