Lenape Valley Foundation is offering a free virtual workshop focused on educating caregivers about issues related to depression and self-harm in children and teens. The workshop takes place Thursday, Jan. 21, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Facilitated by Alison Blum, a licensed marriage and family therapist at LVF with extensive experience providing therapy to children, adolescents and their families, this workshop will provide information on defining self-harming behaviors, what causes them and how to reduce them, as well as how mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety and trauma, play a role in the perpetuation of the self-harming behaviors. It will also focus on the challenges presented by virtual school. During the 90-minute session, presentations will also be offered by LVF staff members Alexandra Pattison, an outpatient therapist, and Umadevi Nuthi, MD, a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatry specialist.
The workshop is free, but registration is required to receive the Zoom link and information. To register, visit lenapevf.org/freeworkshops.
