SCORE Bucks launches six-part workshop series on starting a business

The virtual series begins Jan. 11

SCORE Bucks County is offering a free six-part workshop series “Simple Steps for Starting Your Business.”

The first virtual workshop is Jan. 11, with subsequent webinars to follow every two weeks, with the final session on March 22. Each virtual workshop is held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. SCORE Bucks mentor and coach, consultant and trainer Kathleen Donohue leads the interactive workshops. Designed by successful entrepreneurs, this SCORE-designed and mentor-supported program offers the structure and support entrepreneurs need.

Part 1: Content of a Business Plan and the Types of Business Structures

In this workshop, attendees will gain a better understanding of the purpose and content of a business plan and consider the type of business structure that’s best for them. In this session, you will:

– Review the options for owning your own business
– Evaluate your business idea’s feasibility
– Develop a vision statement for your business

Part 2: Developing Your Business Concept

In this workshop, develop your business concept by evaluating your market and framing your business potential. In this session, you will:

– Develop an outline of your business concept
– Identify key data to understand your client and market
– Identify your marketing strategy

Part 3: Your Marketing Plan – Competition, Message and Pricing

In this workshop, develop a marketing plan for your business. In this session, you will:

– Identify and characterize your competition
– Develop your marketing message
– Understand and develop your pricing strategy

Part 4: Your Marketing Plan – Using the Business Model Canvas

In this workshop, continue building your marketing plan. In this session you will:

– Identify your product and service proposal using the Business Model Canvas
– Identify your customers and specify their needs (your target market)
– Identify your partners and their needs, as well as your needs of them

Part 5: Startup Costs, Cash Flow and Your Financial Plan

In this workshop, develop the financial aspects of your business plan. In this session, you will:

– Understand and calculate your start-up costs
– Identify the elements of your cash flow and how to manage it
– Develop your financial plan

Part 6: Financing Options and Using Your Business Plan to Procure Financing 

In this workshop, you will understand the options for financing your business and get ready to launch. In this session, you will:

– Review financing options
– Learn how to use your business plan to obtain financing
– Set yourself to jump in
