Bucks signs agreement with Ohio University to help RNs earn their BSN

The articulation agreement allows graduates of Bucks’ associate degree nursing program to complete a bachelor’s completely online

Ohio University and Bucks County Community College have entered into a collaborative agreement that provides students who earn an associate degree in nursing at Bucks with a guaranteed academic pathway to seamlessly transfer into a parallel bachelor’s degree program at Ohio University that can be completed entirely online.

The Ohio University School of Nursing RN to BSN program is designed especially for registered nurses who want to further their education and advance their career by earning a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

The two institutions signed an articulation agreement that provides the framework for collaborating with specific programs, and an addendum outlining the collaboration between the nursing programs. The articulation agreement will likely lead to additional agreements in other disciplines at the institutions, officials noted. This is the first such agreement between Bucks and Ohio University, which is based in Athens, Ohio.

“This partnership between Ohio University and Bucks County Community College provides increased access to a nationally-recognized RN-to-BSN program, enhancing educational access and earning potential for these students,” said Elizabeth Sayrs, Ohio University executive vice president and provost. “We look forward to helping them achieve their academic and professional goals through this new partnership.”

“We appreciate the opportunity to allow our students to continue to broaden their education with Ohio University,” said Dr. Constance Corrigan, dean of Health Sciences at Bucks. “Our associate degree students will welcome the opportunity to obtain a higher degree which would allow them to advance within the field of nursing.”

Under the agreement, Bucks students who graduate with an associate of arts degree in nursing will be guaranteed admission into Ohio University’s RN-to-BSN program if they complete all courses with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and satisfy all other Ohio University transfer admission requirements. The agreement is in effect until June 2022.
