TruMark Golf Classic raises $33,000 for financial literacy

The funds will help teach teens about saving, investing and more

TruMark Financial Credit Union hosted its fifth annual Building Financial Futures Golf Classic on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Talamore Country Club in Ambler. One hundred seventeen golfers turned out for the socially-distant event, enjoying a variety of contents and 18 holes of scramble golf tournament play, all while raising more than $33,000 in support of financial literacy.

Competitors tested their skills at the following contests: putting, closest to the pin, golferoo, and men’s and women’s longest drive. In the hole-in-one competition, participants vied for a chance to win $10,000.

“We appreciate the overwhelming support from our sponsors, employees, vendors, credit union colleagues, and guests who attended the event and joined us in our mission to provide grants for local schools in need of personal finance resources,” said Richard F. Stipa, TruMark Financial’s chief executive officer.

Financial education is a priority at TruMark. Grants allow schools to purchase resources, such as textbooks, computer software programs, and math manipulatives to teach the fundamentals of saving, borrowing and investing. TruMark operates several student credit unions, including one at Bensalem High School.
