Letter to the editor: League of Women Voters of Bucks County on mail-in ballots

The League shared tips on successfully submitting a mail-in ballot for the Nov. 3 election

The following was submitted by Monica Weninger and Jean Weston, co-presidents of the League of Women Voters of Bucks County:

“People who have requested a mail-in or absentee ballot and are registered to vote, will begin receiving ballots in early October. The League of Women Voters of Bucks County would like to urge everyone to spend some time preparing to vote thoughtfully.

“There are multiple races on the ballot. In addition to the President and Vice President, there are candidates for Representative to the U.S. House of Representatives, the Representative to the Pennsylvania General Assembly as well as the Pennsylvania Auditor General, Attorney General and Treasurer.

“Before casting your vote, you should spend some time learning about all of the candidates on the ballot. The LWVBC has a range of options for voters wishing to inform themselves about all of the candidates. Please visit our website www.lwvbucks.org, to learn more.

“Once you have selected your candidates and completed your ballot, be sure to follow the instructions for returning the ballot carefully. There are four steps:

– Place your voted ballot in the plain Secrecy Envelope.
– Place the Secrecy Envelope in the Return Envelope.
– Sign the declaration on the back of the Return Envelope.
– Mail your ballot as soon as possible.

Failure to complete all of these steps may result in your vote not being counted.

It is not too late to register to vote or to apply for a mail-in ballot. Go to www.VotesPA.com to register or apply.

The League of Women Voters urges every eligible registered voter to vote in 2020.”
