Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-1st dist.) announced that Warminster Township has received $1,767,963.15 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to assist with the hiring of firefighters. The grant will allow Warminster Township to hire the firefighters necessary to provide coverage at both the Hartsville Fire Company and the Warminster Fire Company.

“I am glad to hear two additional fire companies will benefit from the SAFER Grant. Over the last 50 years, our commonwealth has seen a steep decline in volunteer levels across the spectrum,” Fitzpatrick said. “This grant is critical to offset the drop in volunteer levels to ensure we have the men and women available to respond to emergencies.”

The mission of the SAFER grant program is to enhance the ability of recipients to attain and maintain 24-hour fire department staffing and to better assure that their communities have adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards.
