Interior Communications Electrician 2nd Class Shamirah Ballard, of Bristol, provided opening remarks during a yellow-lit ceremony celebrating Women’s Equality Day on the mess decks of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42).

Germantown, part of the American Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit team, is operating the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
