Southampton Free Library announces September schedule

All programs will be held virtually, with the exception of Story Strolls, Take and Makes, and Tails and Trails

The library has a Story Stroll set up in Tamanend Park for all ages to enjoy. A Story Stroll separates a picture book into several different interactive stops and spreads them out along a nice walk for a socially distant activity. The Story Stroll is located on the paved path between the bird blind and the farmhouse and across from the Carriage House. The story will be changed monthly.

Beginning Sept. 1, the library will offer a Take and Make project. Projects will vary month to month. No registration required. All ages. Ask at the front desk. Available while supplies last. Project for September is Burpee Seed Herb Garden.

Genealogy Workshop on Zoom takes place Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. Join on Zoom, as Susan Koelble, a retired professional genealogist, leads a workshop on genealogical research and assists participants with their own research. Get tips and tricks from an expert. Register on the online calendar to receive the Zoom link.

Beginning Sept. 8, the library will offer Take and Make crafts to preschoolers. The crafts are best for children ages 3 and older with help from their grownups. Crafts are on a first come, first served basis and can’t be reserved ahead of time. September’s project celebrates Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Virtual September Storytime with Ms. Lindsey takes place Tuesdays, Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29, and Fridays, Sept. 11, 18 and 25, at 10:30 a.m. Join every Tuesday and Friday in September to read, dance and sing during the storytime. Visit the online calendar for Zoom meeting ID and password.

Current Events Discussion on Zoom takes place Thursday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. Join on Zoom to have a genial discussion of current events. This discussion will be about the U.S. Post Office and mail-in voting. All viewpoints are welcome as long as they are discussed in a calm and polite manner. Discussion is moderated by a librarian. Virtual Weekend Walks – Dark Hollow Park takes place Friday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. Join to explore Dark Hollow Park and the Neshaminy Creek in Warwick. A walk is posted one Friday a month. The library will provide directions on how to follow the map, as well as distance covered. Most walks will include something of historical importance or interesting scenery. The walk will be posted at 1 p.m. at facebook.com/southamptonfreelibrary.

Music and Motion with Ms. Nancy takes place Mondays, Sept. 14, 21 and 28, at 10:30 a.m. Ages birth and up are invited to sing, dance and move with Ms. Nancy, a professional music teacher experienced in parent-child music programs. Visit the online calendar.

Virtual Evening Book Club takes place Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6:45 p.m. This month’s selection is The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. Join on Zoom for a lively discussion. Register on the online calendar to receive a Zoom invite.

Adventure Aquarium Center for Aquatics on Zoom takes place Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. Join to explore creatures from the Center for Aquatics, part of Adventure Aquarium. Participants may even get to meet a shark. Register on the online calendar. A Zoom link will be emailed to all attendees. Registration is required.

Virtual Afternoon Book Club takes place Monday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. This month’s selection is The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. Join on Zoom for a lively discussion. Register on the online calendar to receive the Zoom link.

What’s Cooking at the Library: A Trio of Pasta Sauces takes place Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. Join Kitchen Wizards as they teach participants how to prepare delicious sauces to have with favorite pasta over Zoom. After class, boil your pastas, and you’ll have three pasta meals ready, meal prep made easy. List of ingredients will be emailed out one week before class if you want to cook along. This program is made possible through a donation from The Landing of Southampton. Register on the online calendar to receive the Zoom link.

Trails and Tails at Tamanend Park takes place Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. Visit Tamanend Park – Pavilion 1 and 2 for this adoption event to meet your new best friend, walk the Story Stroll, and listen to Two of a Kind as they provide musical tunes. This event is organized by the Upper Southampton Township Parks and Recreation Department.
