Thomas announces grant for North Wales Water Authority

The water authority will receive a grant for $882,761 to fight PFAS/PFOA well contamination and create an alternate water supply

Rep. Wendi Thomas (R-Bucks) announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority approved a grant to the North Wales Water Authority through the PA Small Water and H2O Programs.

The water authority will receive a grant for $882,761 to fight PFAS/PFOA well contamination and create an alternate water supply.

“This funding is critical to keeping our drinking water safe from the chemical PFAS which has polluted water near naval bases in Willow Grove and Warminster,” Thomas said. “We must prevent that contaminant from leaching into the drinking water throughout the Bucks and Montgomery County region.”

The chemical PFAS was in fire extinguishing chemicals used at the bases and was washed into local drinking water.

The North Wales Water Authority serves communities throughout Bucks County and the 178th District, including Northampton Township, Solebury Township and many others.
“We must all fight for clean drinking water,” Thomas said.
