PA’s U.S. senators weigh in on Biden’s selection of Harris as vice-presidential running mate

Sen. Bob Casey Jr., a Democrat, said Harris 'will be an excellent vice president,' while Sen. Pat Toomey, a Republican, said he hopes Trump and Pence serve another four years

Pennsylvania’s two U.S. senators both weighed in on Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s selection of California Sen. Kamala Harris as his vice-presidential running mate.

Sen. Bob Casey Jr., a Democrat, released the following statement:

“Sen. Kamala Harris will be an excellent vice president. In the Senate, she’s been a leader on efforts to help working families make ends meet and reform policing in America. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, she’s held the Trump administration accountable. I know she will fight for Pennsylvania families and jobs as vice president.”

Sen. Pat Toomey, a Republican, said he hopes President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence serve another four years.

“Vice President Pence is a thoughtful and hardworking public servant. When you look at the policy objectives and records of President Trump and Vice President Pence against those of Vice President Biden and Sen. Harris, the choice is clear. I look forward to continuing to work with President Trump and Vice President Pence.”
