Residents can participate in a Sidewalk Chalk Walk on Saturday

On the morning of Saturday, Aug. 8 (rain date Aug. 9), residents can participate in a free event hosted by the Langhorne Council for the Arts. Decorate your sidewalk or driveway with colorful, family-friendly chalk creations. In the afternoon, everyone in town is encouraged to stroll the streets to see the artwork.

If you don’t have a sidewalk or driveway but still want to participate, email LanghorneArtsEvents@gmail.com and staff will find you a great location.

Free chalk (one bag per residence) is available at Borough Hall, 114 E. Maple Ave., through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while supplies last. Register on the clipboard when you pick up your chalk so staff can post on Facebook a list of the streets where chalk art can be found. Chalk artists and viewers take full responsibility for their safety during this event, and are expected to comply with CDC and state guidelines, including mask-wearing and maintaining social distance.

On Saturday, Aug. 15, LCA will have a table set up at the African American Education Event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Mayors Playground. Staff will give away crayons and Arts Council T-shirts to children. The event is sponsored by No More Pain, Inc. and Lace’d Unisex Hair Salon.

Additionally, more than 20 banners about historic Langhorne people and places have been set up around the borough, and the remaining few are soon to follow. A walking tour brochure will be available at local businesses later this month to guide you to all banners on Pine Street, Bellevue Avenue and Maple Avenue. A virtual walking tour of the banners is currently available. Visit langhornearts.org/banner-project.html for more information.

LCA’s membership drive, which typically starts on April 1, has been pushed to Sept. 1. Because its ticketed events and fundraisers were canceled, membership dues are needed more than ever. Click here to download a membership form, and here for a welcome letter, then send your check, payable to Langhorne Council for the Arts, to B. West, 312 N. Bellevue Ave., Langhorne, PA 19047.
