Rotary Club of Shady Brook announces Virtual Charity Walk

The 14-mile walk will benefit A Woman’s Place, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and other local nonprofit causes

With the need for social distancing during the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the Rotary Club of Shady Brook will celebrate 14 years of service of helping its neighbors, numerous charitable organizations, vital causes, veterans’ groups and others in need by hosting a 14-mile Virtual Charity Walk.

Proceeds will benefit the following organizations:

– A Woman’s Place, the only domestic violence community benefit organization in Bucks County, which provides a full range of programs and services to protect and support individuals experiencing domestic abuse and their children
– The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, whose mission is to find treatments and cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families, serve as the voice for all blood cancer patients and work to ensure access to treatment for them
– Other local nonprofit causes supported by the Rotary Club of Shady Brook, which has donated more than $240,000, made over $65,000 of in-kind contributions and provided in excess of 12,000 volunteer hours to a wide variety of important causes, veterans organizations and community service projects

Participants can register and donate to A Woman’s Place or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society anytime through Aug. 9 by copying and pasting the following link into their browser: raceroster.com/events/2020/32740/the-rotary-club-of-shady-brook-virtual-charity-walk.

No matter where you live, completion of the 14 miles can take place anywhere and at any time on or before Sunday, Aug. 9 – perhaps by walking less than a mile a day. It’s on the honor system.
