Pennsbury, Holy Ghost Prep and William Tennent high schools submitted videos for TMA Bucks’ annual Teen Driver Safety Video PSA Challenge. As part of the annual Bucks County High School Seatbelt Safety Challenge, all participating high schools had the opportunity to produce and submit a 30-second video PSA on teen driver safety.
Due to schools closing physical locations in March, this was the first time since the Seatbelt Challenge began in 2008 that no winners could be awarded as final seatbelt counts could not take place.
“Comcast continues to view the TMA Bucks Teen Driver Safety Video PSA Challenge as an innovative and productive outlet for students to join together to deliver important messages about teen driving safety and this year was especially impressive, considering the circumstances for teachers and students,” said Brian Jeter, Comcast’s director of government affairs. “Comcast continues to be a proud supporter of TMA Bucks and this outstanding program.”
The winner of this year’s Teen Driver Safety Video PSA Challenge, powered by Comcast, was Palisades High School, of Kintnersville. The winning video was put together by Palisades student David Eschallier, who just wrapped up his junior year.
“I’m so surprised and honored to win this award,” said Eschallier. “I hope it helps convey an important message.”
Palisades will receive a $500 cash grant from TMA Bucks and the PSA will air on Comcast networking.
“I am so proud of David and the work he put into producing this video,” said Nancy Rugel, Palisades business education teacher. “He proposed the idea of creating an animation and worked diligently throughout the editing process. David’s outside-the-box thinking helped him create this very effective message about the importance of not texting while driving.”
“I want to first and foremost thank all four high schools that stepped up and still submitted videos in a school year that presented challenges like never before,” said David Walter, TMA Bucks deputy director. “They should all be extremely proud of what they created and the hard work they put in.
